Over 900 ordinances last session
There have been over 900 new ordinances in the last session!
The Metro Council certainly has been a fast moving body in this last session. There were over 900 ordinances introduced in this last session. That's 900 new passed/pending laws that will impact your life, businesses, and community. We need change that the public agrees with and understands. If you are tired of being left in the dark, then read my plan!
Protecting Homeowners
As a blast victim I understand the horror, pain, and financial disaster unaccountable blasting can do to a home. Your home is your castle. When big money robs you of your peaceful enjoyment of your home, it can feel like your whole world is crumbling. When elected I will make sure that Industry and Government alike are not allowed to ignore this issue. Since 1975 Local governments have been unable to be accountable to their local constituents (this means YOU!) because a particular individual passed a law in 1975 that prevented local governments from helping YOU the homeowner!
I have a very simple formula for blasting unaccountable laws out of the books
Honest Local Government
End the good ole' boy network now! Anyone who thinks Tennessee is corruption free hasn't had a reality check since the 1780's. The fact is, Davidson County is amongst one of the top 25 most corrupt counties in the entire United States. Simply riding the political pendelum back and forth between the GOP and Democratic Party is not a viable way to clean up this mess we call home.
We need someone in office who will stand up and say
Education
Good teachers should be paid well and should be respected!
While Council does not control the education agenda, that's left to the school board, Council does control the purse strings. It is also within the authority of Council to audit any area of the local government at any time for any reason. Teachers shouldn't have to be worried about being attacked by students. We need to review the security situation in public schools. The textbooks should also be audited for accuracy and correctness. We need to Promote S.T.E.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) because that's how you create an economy ready for the 21st century!
